Bathroom Renovation FAQs
In a bathroom remodelling project, the fixtures will stay in their current position which will keep the overall costs down. A bathroom renovation could include moving some walls or changing the plumbing around in the space or forcing a bulkhead below. While a bathroom addition, this is adding a bathroom in a location where no existing bathroom is located. Depending on what type of project this is, the risks and cost will vary. Here at CMY Renovation ltd. We can assist you with any of the above options.
3 piece bathrooms can really be high ticketed items, but generally speaking are around 8-9ft x 5ft and can be completed between $20,000.00 - $30,000.00 + hst. For those looking for 4pc custom bathrooms or true 4pc master bathrooms, it will usually range from $30,000.00 - $55,000.00 depending on the material selected. A Master can at rare times be completed for mid twenties, but the clients will most likely have some compromises.
These are all beautiful in their own usage, but all come with pros and cons
Ceramic tile is easy to cut and usually less expensive, but is weaker and usually moulded into place (this can cause slight variances)
Porcelain is a strong and beautiful material which has a wide range of prices and styles which make it a great choice. Porcelain also doesn’t have to be sealed and can be cleaned very easily. It is manufactured, so it won't have the exact type of beauty of a natural stone. Close, but not 100%
Natural stone like marble or slate is a beautiful and elegant material. The beauty is from the earth and has natural beauty which has been carved from mother nature and not a machine in a shop. The downfall is that it needs to be sealed annually or else water can sneak behind and promote mould to grow. Once that mould starts, it can be a big issue and the bathroom may be demolished before it spreads.
A bathroom renovation / bathroom remodelling can take 2 weeks - 4 weeks for more unique installations. It can at times take longer, but that usually is due to sneaky surprises or very custom work.
